Medicine Hat. Alberta.
There's a spirit here that's hard to explain. Unmistakable when experienced.
At the heart of our community lies a different kind of energy, a pulse that sets us apart and makes us PROUD to be Hatters.
Ours is a community that is built differently.
Our resolve is carved from the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and brick by brick, we've crafted a place where ingenuity grows, good ideas thrive, and people prosper.
A place where tradition meets innovation.
Where the spirit of the prairies collides with the drive for future progress.
Where the days run longer, the sun shines brighter, and the air feels warmer.

We're not just another city; we're Medicine Hat.
Ours is a different kind of energy.

    A New Beginning

I moved to Medicine Hat almost 22 years ago. March 10, 2002 was my first day here. I was newly divorced and a mom of three little girls. We were welcomed at their first school and I had found a great job. I needed a change and I absolutely fell in love with the city. My grown up (now) kids all consider Medicine Hat their hometown. I’m a Hatter for life now and I don’t think I would ever leave here. I met my now husband 13 years ago and we have a good life together here. Most of my... Continue reading

    Our sunshine city

Medicine Hat is the most unique city in Alberta. Our houses are built atop and in between grassy coulees. Finlay bridge connects our city which is split by the south Saskatchewan river. The beauty of nature is all around us here. Hatters are defined by the city, and the warmest most diverse smiles. Medicine hat is the most unique city because of the amazing people who live here and the nature. I am happy to call Medicine Hat my home.

    Just a step away

I’ve lived in much bigger cities and much smaller towns, so I feel quite confident saying that Medicine Hat is a bit unique. Services like pools, parks, and shops are rich and accessible. I can enjoy shady paths beside the river or challenging bike trails in the coulees. I can walk or ride to work. I’ve counted over eight bird species in my garden all at the same time, not to mention the deer, voles, mice, skunks, porcupines, and other beasts that visit. That is unique. This place has a special energy worth celebrating.

    A young girl's dream

Throughout the 80's, I traveled to Winnipeg by Greyhound from Calgary. Medicine Hat was the first stop on my journey. I was so taken with this quaint little town, the brick buildings down town, the greenery, and flowers, with a hint of desert hills. The summer weather is amazing. I hoped someday I could live here. Well, it took 30 yrs, but in 2022, my husband and I retired to Medicine Hat. I love how this little city has a small town feel, and you can get around easily. The many days of sunshine are a big bonus too. The... Continue reading
