Medicine Hat. Alberta.
There's a spirit here that's hard to explain. Unmistakable when experienced.
At the heart of our community lies a different kind of energy, a pulse that sets us apart and makes us PROUD to be Hatters.
Ours is a community that is built differently.
Our resolve is carved from the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and brick by brick, we've crafted a place where ingenuity grows, good ideas thrive, and people prosper.
A place where tradition meets innovation.
Where the spirit of the prairies collides with the drive for future progress.
Where the days run longer, the sun shines brighter, and the air feels warmer.

We're not just another city; we're Medicine Hat.
Ours is a different kind of energy.

    A place to Heal

    by Mchoj, 5 months ago

Being new to the city I was hesitant to raising my family in a new and unknown place. Living here has provided me a space where I felt safe to raise my family and facilitated my healing. I’ve experienced a lot of health difficulties in my life and moving into a new city I was fearful of what that would mean for my health journey. In the last city I lived in I felt like a number, the personal care I received in Medicine Hat reminded me that my health mattered. I felt humanized again, which allowed me to prioritize... Why I relocated to Medicine Hat

After my 22 year relationship ended and my life changed because of a life threatening complication while on a trip to Mexico I decided it was time for a change. I always said I would never live in a city but I needed out of the small town of Taber. I was lucky to have friends here in Medicine Hat and met an amazing guy who has changed my life in such a positive way. I decided it was time to move here. The move has been the best thing for me. I have met so many new great people... Continue reading

Medicine Hat was a great city to grow up in! My siblings and I had a beautiful childhood exploring the ghost trails, rafting down the river and swimming at the pool during the summer, and skating and sledding during the winter. There was always something to do! I love Medicine Hat for the wildlife and connection to nature. On any given day you'll see deer, blue jays, bunnies and beavers, especially when walking on the trails along the river. There is a real sense of community in Medicine Hat; strangers smile and say hello on the street and the trails... Continue reading

My family and I moved here three years ago from the east coast to receive better healthcare and support services for our three children and ourselves . Upon landing in this great city we were welcomed with kindness and a sense of community! Our neighbours, friends , the schools , doctors and community of people are so warm, helpful to us today and each day. We are so grateful to be here!

Medicine Hat is the best of all worlds. It's a place where we can be grounded in history, feeling the clay and richness under us. Medalta, an absolute gem, brings us historical, hands-in reminders of our groundedness. Nowhere has clay been so fruitful and at home, past and present. The parks, river, and creeks provide fabulous opportunities for connecting with nature, understanding the beauty of our semi-desert, and go-at-your-own-pace exercise. Police Point and its Nature Centre is a trove of information and inspiration. Echo Dale is a mecca for families, groups, individuals, and dogs. Take to the beach and relax... Continue reading

Medicine Hat has been my hometown for over 50 years! I was born here and grew up here. I raised my family here. Both my parents are born and bred Hatters too! I moved away for awhile and lived in a couple other places, but the Hat was always HOME. Medicine Hat has always held my heart no matter how far away I was. This sunny mid-sized city in the corner of Alberta has grown a lot since I was a kid but it has always maintained that small town feel. To this day it never ceases to amaze me... Continue reading

    What made me move here

I came to Medicine Hat for a job interview. I spent my down time wandering the city, trying to decide if I wanted to live in this place. I loved the beautiful river and the character of downtown. The people were friendly and positive. The neighborhoods were nice with interesting and varied housing. But was this little prairie city right for me? I found myself in the pedestrian tunnel under the rail lines, returning downtown. The spray art convinced me. This place is pretty and quiet, and life is easy here. But there is energy and creativity bubbling just below... Continue reading
