"Hell for a basement" and Heaven Above
Medicine Hat is the best of all worlds. It's a place where we can be grounded in history, feeling the clay and richness under us. Medalta, an absolute gem, brings us historical, hands-in reminders of our groundedness. Nowhere has clay been so fruitful and at home, past and present. The parks, river, and creeks provide fabulous opportunities for connecting with nature, understanding the beauty of our semi-desert, and go-at-your-own-pace exercise. Police Point and its Nature Centre is a trove of information and inspiration. Echo Dale is a mecca for families, groups, individuals, and dogs. Take to the beach and relax, fish in the pond, or walk and spot deer, skunks, rattle snakes, voles, birds, cacti, budding shrubs, old broken trees, and people enjoying a paddle down the S Saskatchewan. Echo Dale goes up and down and on and on, where, if you'd like, you can arrive at MH Campground. Strathcona and Kin Coulee are full of beauty and history, too, the creeks being hospitable, most of the time.
Before I'm quiet -- although I could go on! --: MH's businesses offer a wonderful variety of foods and brews and meet needs and delights. Friends and neighbours and strangers look out for one another. Many fabulous relationships are built on our ground. Okay, I'm quiet now. :)
