Medicine Hat. Alberta.
There's a spirit here that's hard to explain. Unmistakable when experienced.
At the heart of our community lies a different kind of energy, a pulse that sets us apart and makes us PROUD to be Hatters.
Ours is a community that is built differently.
Our resolve is carved from the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and brick by brick, we've crafted a place where ingenuity grows, good ideas thrive, and people prosper.
A place where tradition meets innovation.
Where the spirit of the prairies collides with the drive for future progress.
Where the days run longer, the sun shines brighter, and the air feels warmer.

We're not just another city; we're Medicine Hat.
Ours is a different kind of energy.

    Life Energy

    by Dorothy E M, 5 days ago

If you look up the definition of Energy, it comes up with many definitions. None of them really define the kind of Energy that describes Medicine Hat.

Living in Medicine Hat seems to have its own kind of energy. What I have experienced by living here for over 30 years is….

Physical energy: Medicine Hat is a very active community that caters to the health and wellness of all its’ citizens. I feel blessed that we have many opportunities to participate in team sports, clubs, family, group and individual activities as well as great facilities to watch exciting sports events... Growing up in Medicine Hat, I have never thought “I can’t wait to leave”. Every unique season provides an opportunity to be awed by our surroundings. Blossoming trees in the spring, a burst of green in the coulees in early summer, big sunsets, picturesque autumns and bright winter days. It’s hard not to want to get out and enjoy the parks and paths that Medicine Hat has to offer. Community blossoms in Medicine Hat. There’s a place for like-minded people of all kinds. You can see the hard work that this community puts in to bringing others together. There is... Continue reading

I love the energy of Medicine Hat because it is a friendly city and ideal for young families. What other city has no problem getting volunteers for events Medicine Hat is such a great place to live there are beautiful parks and trails and so many wonderful things to do and places to go . Some of my favorites are going to art displays at the Esplanade or Medalta, going kayaking on the river or on Seven Person Creek , going for a swim at Echodale or an indoor or outdoor pool or taking a cycle or walk along the... We moved here in 2012, and Medicine Hat had a quaint charm about it. It included a downtown, a beautiful park, a shopping mall, and locals strolling the paths. Over the years, downtown is more active than ever with coffee shops, specialty stores, and a variety of ethnic restaurants. Tourism has actively promoted hundreds of arts and culture events, festivals, concerts, and diverse activities to capture the interests of locals and abroad. The positive promotion of activity and involvement has created a healthy community as exhibited by the hikers, bikers, dog walkers, strollers and others, on all the trails and... Continue reading

    Best place to

    Live in Alberta!
I arrived in Medicine Hat on December 4, 1974 from England. I love Medicine Hat immediately and always feel like I am coming home whenever I leave on Vacation. I feel safe and happy here and always have. I love all the community events and attend everything I can. When others move away, they always come back. This is my home and always will be. I am so happy here.

    A place to grow roots

I have spent my life moving every few years, unable to find somewhere where I really felt at home. Until I moved to Medicine Hat in 2021. I am so grateful that life's adventures brought me here! I love the historic downtown, the enchanting coulees, and the unique artistic vibe the Hat has. One of my favourite things to do is walk along the river and go to the public library. I really believe there is something for everyone here!

    Medicine Hat Makes Me Happy!

by Shelley Acheson, 14 days ago

According to Dan Buettner from “Blue Zones”, there is a correlation between being Happy and Living Longer, it therefore stands to reason that most people want to live where they can be the happiest. There is a growing trend (especially since the pandemic) of people moving to where they can live happily.

Some contributing factors to a place being “Happy” are:

Trust – Trustworthy police, politicians, and neighbors

Walkability – Multi use trails to facilitate physical activity and socializing.

Access to Nature – A proximity to parks, open spaces, and trees.

Clean Environment – Clean water, air, and land.

    People... Continue reading

    Why I stayed

    by LST, 14 days ago
I moved to a near by small town as a young child from the big city of Calgary. My parents wanted better for us. We stayed in the small town until I was a teenager snd needed more, and Medicine Hat became more then just a trip to town for groceries. I started living on my own young. Working a couple jobs, not driving, this safe smaller city gave me the ability to walk everywhere without feeling scared. I met my husband here, and so even though my entire family lives elsewhere I stayed. We started businesses, made carreers, had... Continue reading

    Hello there dear audience,

Where can you find a place that has a touch of authenticity homemade and dash of city electric energy!? Medicine Hat.
A hometown is one thing you can never replace no Matter where you travel. You find yourself comparing the littlest things to what you grew up knowing. It touches a place in our roots like our very souls are connected to its places. I’ve moved twice away for very short times because no place is like home; now 34 years have I lived here. Watching everything coming alive more than ever before. Watched mom and... Continue reading
