I agree that this is a very real issue and has been an ongoing problem for many years. The complexity of clients going to LTC seems to have increased, therefore, the equipment funding model also needs to change to support these residents and help the flow out of acute care beds.

Absolutely agree!!!! A delay in securing a specialized piece of equipment, such as a tilt w/c as posted, means a delay in transferring a patient out of an acute care setting. The patient is ALC and does not need to occupy an acute care bed. These delays are unnecessary - costing the healthcare system thousands of dollars a day. VCH and/or MOH should review the amount it costs to keep that person in hospital versus the cost of the piece of equipment. It would make sense to allocate resourcing to equipment in these situations.
