Many in our community would agree that these have been challenging times. The global pandemic and all of its associated impacts have had a tremendous effect on our economy and mental health, and the abundant use of social media has contributed to significant divisiveness in our community and beyond.

We want to collaborate with the community to reset the conversation, build optimism, and overcome negativity with more positive actions and narrative.

Change doesn't happen overnight, but it can happen through daily choices and by building habits. Help lead the way towards positive change with simple, everyday choices. Choose to build optimism in our city and spread positivity across the community.

Love Wins Over Hate Every Time!

by heyjude, almost 3 years ago
I had never know what it was like to be hated and vilified by acquaintances and strangers alike, but I also knew that I wasn't alone. And then, like an answer to prayer, along came strangers from unlikely places to give me back my freedom and my dignity, and I will never forget their kindnesses. So, every day I try to pass on that kindness by offering a smile or words of encouragement to someone else who may be feeling alone. The world is a better place when we lift each other up and celebrate our differences. Love wins every... Continue reading

    Amazing People are our Strength

My family and I moved to Medicine Hat 16 years ago for, we expected to be a year-long stay.

But from the very first moments, we realized that this city was a truly special place. The realtor we selected turned out to be so much more than a home seller... he assumed the role of community ambassador who showed us around the city, made sure we knew where to access all the important services and did everything necessary to ensure that we settled nicely in our new community.

In time, he became a trusted friend that we'd see shopping, at... Continue reading

    Focus on the good!

by Marco Jansen, almost 3 years ago

My mother often said, “Little things mean a lot.” She lived a life of happiness and gratitude by choosing to focus on the good, no matter if it was big or small. By mimicking that attitude, I easily find multiple reasons to be happy and positive every day.

    Love Who You Are

I love to see people just being who they are .. laughing, smiling, talking, and just enjoying themselves in our community. My positivity comes from embracing “the ordinary”, “the awkwardness”, and “the flaws” of myself and others… I will always just appreciate everyone for who they are ❤️

    Just a laugh

I appreciate the small interactions between people that make a day brighter. I'm sure this story isn't rare, or at least I hope not. I had a good laugh with the young person working the till at a bigbox store last week. Plain giggles between two people that don't know each other's name and may never meet again. But all the same, thank you happy person. That small moment made a big difference to me.

    More Family Time

First, THANK-YOU to those in healthcare - we needed you and you made a difference and it is sincerely appreciated. We live in a very free and democratic country - I am so thankful for the healthcare that we have - so lucky to live here.

Recent history has provided an unprecedented opportunity to spend more time with our immediate family.

We have cherished the times where we have ordered take out from a local restaurant, spent hours around our dining room table where we reminisced about fabulous family vacations we have had and mused about the next one.

    We... Continue reading

    Choose to be a survivor

by TSreedhar, almost 3 years ago

Life isn't always easy, we all get dealt with goods and bads in life. Sometimes the bad seems extreme. I have been there. The worst I experienced was the death of my daughter 4.5 yrs ago. Previous to this I had lost my dad to cancer and a friend of mine asked me a question... are you a victim or a survivor? I thought about this and decided to be a survivor. This helped me overcome the death of my dad and my daughter. I continues to help and guide me still to this day. It helps me in dealing... Continue reading
