East Ring Enhancement Project

The City of Medicine Hat has received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) to construct and operate the East Ring Enhancement Project (Proceeding #29538). The City has been finalizing project design and procuring materials. After reviewing project timelines, financial requirements and other infrastructure priorities, the City has decided to postpone the start of construction to 2029. As a result, the City will ask the AUC to extend the deadline for completing the project to December 31, 2031. The request relates only to the permitted in-service date and does not reopen consideration of the approved transmission line location. Environmental surveys will be updated closer to construction to identify any changes to the landscape.
