Framework update
The City's Public Participation Framework is currently in practice internally. As with any "city-wide" change involving multiple departments and a shift process, it takes times to consistently and confidently accomplish a new way of doing things. In collaboration with the newly created role of Public Participation Specialist, we are working to practice, refine, and implement a framework to better define, develop, and coordinate public engagement efforts.
Framework launch
👉Internally, we are practicing and using the framework. Once we are confident, as a City, we can consistently commit, across departments, to the promise we make to the public through the framework, we will promote it publicly.
👍👎Publicly, there are elements of the framework in practice with select projects. The Public Participation Specialist is collecting feedback from those involved in these projects to evaluate the effectiveness of the public engagement framework.
How can you see aspects of the public participation framework in practice now?
- Register your account on Shape Your City. By registering, you will be subscribed to public engagement e-news alerts to keep you informed of upcoming engagement opportunities.
- Check out Shape Your City. There are many projects at various stages detailed on this platform. We are working hard to build on our public participation practice and are listening and learning from public input on the process. You will see these pages consistently evolve and develop as we learn.
- Attend our multi-departmental Shape Your City events twice a year (formerly Municipal Mingles) to connect in-person with project teams. Our next event is Thursday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Big Marble Go Centre.
