The City of Medicine Hat is currently reviewing options (stronger structures or relocation) to build line capacity on the existing transmission line in your community that we call 60L along Rotary Centennial Dr. NW (23 St. NW) and Parkview Dr. NE.

We have reached the next stage in the project, where we are introducing alternative scenarios for the transmission line. Each scenario presents different options for the poles, either changing the height or relocating them. When upgrading a transmission line, various factors are carefully considered and evaluated.

These factors include potential environmental impacts, visual concerns, proximity to residences, the number of residences in the area, technical and engineering limitations, agricultural effects, project costs, and other factors. While it may not always be apparent, there are situations where relocating the transmission line may result in the least potential impact, while in other cases, leaving the line in its current position may be the least impactful option.

Working with the community is essential for us to determine what scenarios should be submitted for regulatory approval.
