Medicine Hat - A City Alive

"All hell for a basement", a famous poet did sound,

natural gas in abundance, beneath our vast ground.

But big skies above, wide-open and blue,

inspire, lift up, make the soul feel renewed.

Coulees, at once, somehow both dry and lush

give food, give shelter, in burrows and brush,

wind through the city to the South Saskatchewan shores,

give way to cottonwoods, sage brush and more.

The downtown bustles, with cafes and art,

the trains that grew us, right there at the heart.

You might hear it announced from a few blocks away

the Mavericks scored a home run, the crowd loves the play.

Herds of deer venture out, as night comes to pass,

nibble at flowers, shrubbery, grass.

The teepee lights up, colours vivacious arrive,

remind everyone Medicine Hat is alive!
