A Temporary Move

I moved here "temporarily" in 1981 with my then fiance. It was an oilfield move, so that's how my story tied into the energy of the City at the time. I came from Saskatoon and it was "home" for the longest time. But then, one day Medicine Hat became "home". I like the size of the city. We have all the necessary amenities and an excellent art community which has become my mainstay in retirement. Now the City's energy, for me, has to do with community and art related events.

I'm in 100% agreement. City planning should be about planning the city writ large, not micromanaging (poorly!) what people do with their private property. City Council should massively shift what planning staff do. Instead of regulating the minutia of proposed developments, they should spend the majority of their time on planning and managing public spaces and public policy.
