The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) released its decision(External link) to approve DP Energy’s application to permit the construction and operation of a 325 MW solar plant within the City of Medicine Hat’s municipal boundary. The full size of the project, on approximately 1,600 acres (currently owned by Viterra), was approved with conditions.

Alberta Utilities Commission Decision 29273-D01-2025 approved the transfer of approvals for the Saamis Solar Park and substation from Saamis Solar Park Limited to the City of Medicine Hat.
